"Military Working Dog"

WELCOME

This new website is undergoing progressive construction so please keep checking in……

OBJECTIVES

Education – Provide insight into the historical and heroic legacy of the U.S. Military Working Dog Team, hence the "War Dog" and their contribution to the defense of our nation’s freedom since Dogs for Defense was activated during World War Two. However, Sgt. Stubby, World War One bull terrier mascot is considered the first American War Dog Hero.

Fundraising – The work of U.S. Congressman Walter B. Jones of North Carolina to initiate congressional legislation for the proposed “National War Dog Teams Monument” pictured herein has passed the U.S. House and Senate, and was signed into law by President George W. Bush on January 28, 2008. Raising the public funds needed to make it happen is now a critical objective.

The proposed National War Dog Team Monument

“It is the first time in our nation’s U.S. military history that an animal, a dog, has been elevated to national monument status by law.” John C. Burnam, Founder of National War Dogs Monument and Coauthor of its Congressional Legislation
